The launching ceremony of Zhejiang Provincial Clinical Research Center for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases (Center) was held on December 2, 2017. Under the direction of Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Department, SAHZU takes the lead to establish the Center in collaboration with 6 provincial hospitals, 20 municipal and county-level hospitals in Zhejiang province.

On December 14 of 2017, the first IVF baby was born in Department of Obstetrics at SAHZU, which brought lots of happiness and joy to the new parents who had the infertility for 10 years due to tubal blockage and primary ovarian insufficiency. This happiness also permeated the medical staff of the Center for Reproductive Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Anesthesiology, as well as each of the SAHZU staff. It is amazing that the 8-cell embryo has been growing up to a 48cm height and 2700g weight healthy boy. President Jian’an Wang made a special trip to Binjiang campus to visit the baby and delivered greetings and thanks to the parents for their trust on behalf of the hospital.
On November 22, 2017, with the great cooperation of the hospital leadership and related departments, the thoracic surgery of SAHZU carried out the first lung transplant operation and completed two cases successfully. It was also the first time the two had been successfully completed in a lung transplant in Zhejiang Province. Now it's the third week after the surgery, and one of the patients recovers well and has been discharged. The other patient has been able to get out of bed and is recovering.

Nov. 11, 2017, 2016 Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking and 2016 Specialty Reputation Rankings of Chinese Hospitals were released in Shanghai by Institute of Hospital Management Fudan University. The Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University (SAHZU) ranks No. 20 in both of the two rankings. Since 2010 when Institute of Hospital Management Fudan University release its first hospital ranking, SAHZU, under the leadership of President Wang Jian’an, has improved from No. 52 to No. 20 on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll. This honor belongs to all SAHZU staff and the friends and patients who have always trusted and supported SAHZU.
Hosted by China Federation for Hospital Quality Control Circle (QCC) and Tsinghua University Hospital Management Research Institute, the 5th National Quality Control Circle Competition of Chinese Hospitals was held ceremoniously at Changchun International Conference Center from September 22 to 24, 2017. About 340 candidates from 31 provinces of China competed for the final.
The 22nd Congress of Chinese Ophthalmological Society was held at Fuzhou from September 13th to 17th. Prof. Yao Ke, the Chair of Ophthalmology Department at SAHZU and the Chair of Chinese Ophthalmological Society，served as the Chairman of the Congress. The theme of the conference is to explore innovative ways to build a bright future.
The launching ceremony of National Colorectal Cancer Cohort Project was held in the city of Hangzhou on September 19, 2017. The project led by Prof. Ding Kefeng from SAHZU is approved funding award as "precision medicine" special program of National 13th five-year Major Research and Development Plan. Prof. Wang Jian’an, President of SAHZU gave a welcome speech on behalf of the hospital and stressed that innovations in patient care has always been the core of our hospital development.
