From nanotechnology and tissue regeneration to biomedical engineering, the generation of new knowledge and therapeutic ideas through research is highly valued at the Department of General Dentistry. The Department is promoting an integration of basic, transitional and clinical research to stimulate discoveries and their diffusions into evidence based dental treatments. Many of our laboratory discoveries from fundamental researches have transformed into clinical implementation, improving the effectiveness and cost benefit of dental health care services.

The Department's main research fields include:

Basic metabolic processes and signaling pathways of bone regeneration

Stem cell biology and oral tissue engineering

Treatment alternatives of temporomandibular disorders (conservative treatment and herbal medicine topical application)

Clinical case studies of tooth auto-transplantation
