Radiation oncology is one of the three main oncology specialties involved in cancer treatment; the other two are surgical oncology and medical oncology. We provide expert opinion on whether radiation therapy will be appropriate for cancer and how to deliver it safely and effectively.
The Department of Radiation oncology has one of the largest and most experienced radiotherapy teams in Zhejiang Province. With advanced equipments, conventional radiotherapy, X-knife, conformal radiotherapy, imaging guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensive modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) are all performed in our department. Radio-chemotherapy is also used routinely. The aim of radiation treatment is to achieve cure while preserving normal anatomy and function. When cure is not possible, it maximizes palliation.
