Research Summary

Dr. Lin mainly engaged in the regulatory signaling pathways and molecular mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and inflammation.

During the Ph.D., he focused on the role of Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) in inflammatory bowel disease. He found that the expression of RKIP in intestinal epithelial cells of patients with inflammatory bowel disease was significantly increased, and the change of RKIP expression was positively correlated with the pathogenesis of human inflammatory bowel disease. In vivo, RKIP deletion attenuated the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease in mice. Further studies demonstrated that RKIP promotes the activation of P65/PUMA/Caspase3 signaling pathway by enhancing TAK1 oligomerization and autophosphorylation to enhance the IECs apoptosis, suggesting that RKIP may be a new diagnostic and therapeutic target for inflammatory bowel disease. The related research work was published in Gut 2017; in addition, he found that RKIP regulates IL-17R signaling pathway to modulate IL-17R-associated inflammation and autoimmune diseases. And this study was published in EMBO Reports 2018.

Furthermore, he found that the protein kinase NDR1 is involved in the regulation of the IL-17R signaling pathway associated inflammatory response and autoimmune diseases. The relevant content was published in EMBO Reports 2017.
