SAHZU Ranks No. 20 in 2016 Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking

Nov. 11, 2017, 2016 Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking and 2016 Specialty Reputation Rankings of Chinese Hospitals were released in Shanghai by Institute of Hospital Management Fudan University. The Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University (SAHZU) ranks No. 20 in both of the two rankings. Since 2010 when Institute of Hospital Management Fudan University release its first hospital ranking, SAHZU, under the leadership of President Wang Jian’an, has improved from No. 52 to No. 20 on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll. This honor belongs to all SAHZU staff and the friends and patients who have always trusted and supported SAHZU.


In the release conference of 2016 Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking and Hospital Specialty Construction Forum held by Fudan University, SAHZU President Wang Jian’an was invited as a representative of excellent hospital president and academic leader, to deliver a lecture entitled Globalization and Specialty Construction and shared SAHZU experience.


In the specialty rankings, SAHZU has 6 specialties ranking top 10 in China and top 1 in Zhejiang province:


Emergency Medicine: No.5 in China (No.2 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province);


Ophthalmology: No.6 in China (No.3 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province);


Cardiology: No.7 in China (No.2 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province);


Neurosurgery: No.8 in China (No.2 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province);


Burns: No.10 in China (No.4 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province);


Ultrasound Medicine: No.10 in China (No.3 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province).


Besides, 6 specialties were nominated in 2016 Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking, ranking high in East China and top 1 in Zhejiang province:


Respiratory Medicine: No. 3 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province;


Orthopedics: No. 4 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province;


Neurology: No. 4 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province;


Nuclear Medicine: No. 4 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province;


Dermatology: No. 5 in East China, No.1 in Zhejiang province;


Anesthesiology: nominated in East China ranking, No.1 in Zhejiang province.


In 2016 East China Hospital Comprehensive Strength Ranking, SAHZU has more than 10 nominated specialties, including Pathology, ENT, Radiology, Rheumatology, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Thoracic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Oncology and Clinical Pharmacy.


In August 2010, Institute of Hospital Management Fudan University initiated the evaluation of Chinese Best Hospitals Ranking and Specialty Reputation Rankings of Chinese Hospitals, the first one in China. With the method of peer review, the evaluation focuses on each hospital’s specialty construction, clinical technique, medical service quality and scientific research achievement. 37 specialties were evaluated; top 10 and nominated hospitals would be listed for each specialty. Considering China’s large population and vast territory, to help patients make more informed health care decisions, they started 7 regional rankings 3 years ago, including Northeast China, North China, East China, South China, Central China, Southwest China and Northwest China. According to 2016 Yearbook of Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission, Fudan Hospital Ranking have a full coverage of all the 1236 tertiary care hospitals (including military hospitals) in China, becoming the only  “full-coverage” hospital ranking. The ranking is by far the most authoritative ranking in China.
