On August 16, the result of Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Grant Review 2018 was revealed. SAHZU again beat its own record from last year by winning a total of 41.94 million CNY NSFC grants for 100 programs, ranking the first in Zhejiang province again for 8 years running and the 7th in China! The 100 programs include 1 national key program in General Surgery, 1 international project in Cardiology, 47 general programs and another 51 programs for young scholars.

Departments such as Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Pulmonary Medicine ,Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Laboratory, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Radiation Oncology, Oral Medicine, Dermatology, Burn, Reproductive Medicine, Oncology, General ICU, Urology, Pathology, ENT, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, General Practice, Cardiovascular Surgery, Hematology, Plastic Surgery, Nursing, IT, Cancer Institute and Clinical Research Center, all had great performance in the grant review.

Science innovation is at the core of SAHZU’s missions. It is the reason why SAHZU people keep devoting themselves to research and development. In order to achieve this goal, SAHZU has been recruiting talents from all over the world while building a complete research loop by setting up research facilities ranging from basic clinical lab, small animal lab to non-primate animal lab, GMP standard cell therapy center and bio-bank, etc. To encourage innovation and translational research, SAHZU is testing a new mode that is to promote cross-discipline collaboration based on clinical needs with specific targets on certain complicated and difficult diseases. Our international collaborative partners also give their all round support to the research and development of SAHZU.

It is with these many efforts that SAHZU believes it will build a “world class” hospital with strong research ability and ultimately give back to our society.
