Quality Improvement on the Way: A Summary of 2018 JCI Mock Survey

SAHZU passed the accreditation of Joint Commission International in 2013 for the first time as one of the world’s first JCI accredited Medical Centers and the second time in 2016. The JCI surveyors commented us as the “the best JCI accredited hospital so far in China mainland”.

Recently, SAHZU just had another round of JCI mock survey starting Sep. 10, which is to prepare the whole hospital for the formal survey in 2019. For 8 days, 5 JCI consultants conducted a thorough inspection of hospital services, nursing care, pharmacy, infection control, administration, logistics and other areas at both campuses of SAHZU. About 120 department units and 300 SAHZU staff were investigated. Good performance highly impressed the JCI consultants, but room for improvement was also discovered. At the end of the mock survey, consultants together with SAHZU leadership and administrative teams planed a detailed scheme for future improvement and on-site training. SAHZU is very grateful about what we have learned from the mock survey and the consultants and believe that it will greatly help us with the formal survey in about 4 months.

Patient safety and medical quality are SAHZU’s permanent goals to be a better healthcare institution. We learn from the best and develop our own way to achieve our goals. We see quality and safety as soul to our hospital and always try providing better experience for patients. This is the reason why we attach so much importance to the JCI accreditation. We work for it as we seek for excellence.
