The Joint Academic Center for Diagnosis, initiated by SAHZU and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), was established in 2010.
It provides Chinese local patients with UCLA physicians' second opinions of pathology via telemedicine stystem. To the date, thousands of cases in clinical/anatomic pathology, neuropathology, cytopathology etc. have been completed at the Center, making SAHZU one of the largest centers of international telemedicine. The network has grown to include another 10 Chinese hospitals in following years, benefiting a wider Chinese population.
The much greater volume of patients in China has also brought opportunities to international counterparts to tackle unusual cases.
The Center has extended its service to educational case discussions with more international partners.
