Professor Yao ke has joined the International Intra-Ocular Implant Club

The International Intra-Ocular Implant Club (IIIC) has unanimously agreed to have Professor Yao Ke, join their team.


Prof. Yao has been doing the clinical and research on cataract surgery for 42 years, and has major breakthrough in micro-incision phacoemulsification in recent years. Impressed by his superb skills and outstanding contribution to the cataract surgery, Professor Graham Barrett, the former chairman of IIIC, nominated Prof. Yao for IIIC. Thus, Professor Yao Ke has become the first Chinese doctor joining that club.


IIIC was founded in 1966 by English ophthalmic surgeons Sir Harold Ridley and Peter Choyce to promote research in the field of intraocular lens implantation. Its membership is composed by the world first class ophthalmologists, and in turn, being a member shows a leading figure in the field of intraocular lens implantation in the world.


The criteria for nomination into IIIC are very strict, and also the process for the nomination of new members is rigorous. It has to be unanimously passed in the final vote that a nomination can be successfully accepted as new member.


Being the first Chinese member in IIIC, Prof. Yao has gained tremendous honor for all Chinese ophthalmologists.
