The Eye Center is ranked tpo 5 in China. It has subspecialties including cataract, retina, glaucoma, cornea, refractive surgery, ocular plastic surgery & orbital disease, strabismus & pediatric ophthalmology, and optometry. Among these, the diagnosis and treatment for cataract, retina, eyelid and orbital diseases, and the refractive surgery especially at the leading position in China and even in the world.
Eye Center, also the National Key (Cultiviating) Discipline, the Zhejiang Province Major Laboratotry for Blindness Prevention Techniques Research and the lading center of Eye Institute in Zhejiang University, has bee granted hundreds of international, national, provincial research projects; published over 500 papers; awarded over 20 national patents, and more than 30 national, provincial Science and Technology Adcance Prizes. Meanwhile, the Center has traveled to underserved remote areas like Tibet and Inner Mogolia to provide free mini-incision cataract surgery for patients there.
