In April 2023, the National Key Laboratory of Transvascular Implantable Devices was officially established following a directive from the Ministry of Science and Technology. Based at the Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejinag University School of Medicine, the Laboratory is directed by Academician Wang Jian'an. It integrates Zhejiang University's robust multidisciplinary collaborative innovation capabilities in medicine, engineering, and information technology, and joins forces with leading domestic companies in vascular medical device technology to create a dual-driven innovation and research and development system centered on "clinical needs-driven and intelligent manufacturing innovation."
The Laboratory focuses on cutting-edge research in vascular implantable devices, with key research directions encompassing: exploration of cardiovascular data characteristics of the Chinese population, in-vivo failure mechanisms of devices, advanced technologies for functional materials and long-lasting devices, and precise implantation strategies driven by clinical data. By fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across medicine, engineering, and information technology guided by clinical needs, as well as industry-academia-research cooperative innovation, the Laboratory aims to establish a world-class center for the research and development, diagnosis, and treatment of vascular implantable devices, and to become a talent hub in this field.
