Research Summary

In recent years, Dr. Zhang has devoted himself to the study of the relationship between surfactant protein (SP) and bacterial infectious diseases and allergic diseases, in order to reveal the role of innate immune system in the occurrence and development of infectious and allergic diseases, and to provide new treatment programs for the prevention and treatment of related diseases. In the study, his team found that SP-D can combine with lipopolysaccharide of bacteria through its molecular neck domain in E.coli infection, and play an immune role; at the same time, in the occurrence and development of allergic diseases, SP-D is related to the human immune tolerance mechanism. Through the analysis of SP-D gene polymorphism, it was found that the polymorphism of methionine and threonine at position 11 in SP-D protein expression was related to bacterial susceptibility in human eyes. In the study, the applicant established a new method for the formation of a mouse model of Staphylococcus aureus keratitis, which was invited to be published in curr protoc mouse Biol in 2017 by Wiley publishing house.
