Dr Zhang's research interests are concerned mainly with nanotechnology, tissue regeneration and biomedical engineering related to dentistry. Many of her laboratory discoveries ffrom basic researches have transformed into clinical application. Her current research fields include:
1. Basic metabolic processes and signaling pathways of bone regeneration;
2. Stem cell biology and oral tissue engineering;
3. Treatment alternatives of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (conservative treatment and herbal medicine topical application);
4. Tooth auto-transplantation.
