Recently, the 28th China Medical Team in Mali has completed their 20-month healthcare mission in the African country of Mali and returned to China. The team, including SAHZU Anesthesiologist Dr. CHEN Congcong and Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. ZHU Leibo, landed at Hangzhou on Dec. 3.

Since 1970s, SAHZU has sent nearly one hundred healthcare professionals to provide their expertise and medical assistance in Mali, Central African Republic, Liberia, Fiji, and etc. Most of the SAHZU experts stay there for two years and take care of local people's medical needs together with their local colleagues.

In order to better enhance the medical capability of local hospitals, SAHZU also organizes specially designed training programs targeting the most-needed knowledge for the local doctors. For example, with Zhejiang Health Commission's support, two Mali doctors had training at SAHZU Neurosurgery and Anesthesiology in 2019.

"Most of the patients that come to the hospital are ordinary people from various places and have great trust in Chinese doctors. We hope our dedicated healthcare services and free medication could alleviate their illness and pain." said Dr. ZHU.
