Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
The team has 20 years of experience in treating cholangiopancreatic disorders by ERCP, and performs over 230 operations each year. Current services include diagnostic ERCP, endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST), calculus extraction, biliary stents, etc. Patients with chronic pancreatitis, cholelithiasis, cholangiopancreatic tumor and malformation can be evaluated and treated through ERCP. Jaundice can be relieved effectively in patients with malignant biliary obstruction.

Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)
ESD has recently been performed in the Endoscopy Center using new devices such as insulation-tip diathermic knives. This procedure makes a clear-cut resection of early stage cancerous lesion over 2 cm in diameter. The curative effect of ESD in treating early stage cancer or pre-cancerous lesions in the esophagus, stomach and colon has been proved to be definitive. Its minimal invasive advantage spares patients from morbidity of conventional surgery. Over 40 patients have benefited from this brand new procedure in the Endoscopic Center in 2009.

Helicobacter Pylori (HP)
On the diagnosis of HP infection, we have a series of methods including Carbon-14-urea Breath Test, Carbon-13-urea Breath Test, HP Culture and Saliva Rapid Diagnosis. These methods complement each other so that the diagnosis of HP infection can be made with high sensitivity and specificity. Also, we are pround to be the first to establish quality control standards for HP detection in the country.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
We are one of the first centers to develop this technique in Zhejiang Province. We have used it widely served in our clinical work. EUS combines endoscopy and ultrasound to obtain images and information in the digestive tract and the surrounding tissue and organs, capable of revealing the layers of the intestinal wall, the adjacent lymph nodes and the blood vessels. It helps to improve the diagnostic accuracy of submucosal mass, carcinoma, and micro-occupational(invasive??) lesions in the pancreas. Fine needle aspiration (FNA) under EUS provides pathological evidence for diagnosis and treatment.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
IBD mainly consists of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn disease (CD). The team stays abreast with advances in IBD diagnosis and treatment. We also actively investigate the integration of traditional and Western medicine in managing the disease. We have a stable patient population in our department. Long-term follow-ups and regular health-care sessions are offered to the patients. This also won us honor and respect all around.
