The research interests of the department mainly focus on the following aspects: 

  1. Neural repair and regeneration after hemorrhagic, ischemic or mechanical injury are supported by grants of National 11th Five-Year Plan, the projects on clinical study of the decompression craniotomy operation for massive brain ischemia are supported by Provincial Key and the projects on the neural stem/progenitor cell study and the nerve regeneration after brain ischemia are supported by Natural Science Foundation of China (NFSC) grants.

  2. Neural and vascular toxic effects after subarachnoid hemorrhage and its clinical management, including a key project supported by the Province on the emergency treatment of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), and a NSFC supported project on the toxic effects of Fe2+ in the post-SAH vasospasm.

  3. High grade gliomas, including the proteome study of high grade gliomas and a nationally study on the temozolomide therapy for glioblastoma.
