The Department of Pharmacy was established in 1869 and now has about 140 medical staffs. The department includes Drug Storehouse, Outpatient Pharmacy, Emergency Pharmacy, VIP Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Center of Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Service (PIVAS), Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Division of Clinical Pharmacology. Its daily number of prescriptions for outpatients reaches about 4,500. Inpatient Pharmacy and PIVAS also affords the medication service for more than 2,000 inpatients and the annual number of medical orders is over 10 millions. The department is the training base of clinical pharmacists in China.
