Vice-premier Liu Yandong visited SAHZU Yuhang Campus

Liu Yandong, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and vice-premier of the State Council, carried out a survey of medical and health care reform in Zhejiang Province recently and took a field tour of SAHZU Yuhang Campus (the First People’s Hospital of Yuhang District, Hangzhou City) on Nov. 5, accompanied by Hangzhou City Mayor Zhang Hongming, Deputy Secretary General of Zhejiang Provincial Government Li Yunlin, Director of Zhejiang Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission Yang Jing, SAHZU President Wang Jian’an, Yuhang Campus President Yu Hong and other related department leaders.

Liu made a survey of the work of regional medical association and smart health care system at Yuhang Campus, and visited the Self Service Registering and Clearing Service, Health Lecture Hall, Pharmacy, Convenient Outpatient Service, and SAHZU Specialist Clinic where Liu was attracted by the famous “bowing picture” showing the first SAHZU President and a pediatric patient bowing to each other. SAZHU President Wang Jian’an explain to Liu the history of this picture and the core value of “the needs of patients and customers come first” it bears.

Later, Liu came to the four-level tele-medicine center. Here, she watched a real-time online interaction consisting of Qiaosi grassroots medical institution, Yuhang Campus, SAHZU and UCLA Reagan Medical Center and a cardiovascular interventional surgery video representing the international latest technology of heart valve.

Liu pointed out that medical and health care reform provides health basis and support for building a moderately prosperous society and realizing the Chinese dream. Healthy China should have healthy Chinese people. No universal health, no universal moderate prosperity.

Measures should be taken to firmly carry out the spirit of medical and health care reform emphasized by the Fifth Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. With the methods of “talents sinking and resources sinking”, quality medical and health resources should be guided to flow to the grassroots to solve such substantial problems as finding doctors and expensive medicine for patients, which help constantly improve people’s health level.

She said, more attention should be paid to innovate the concept of hospital management, promote the tripartite co-reform of health care, medical insurance and pharmaceutical industry, carry out the grading diagnosis and treatment system, ensure the rational distribution of quality medical resources, strengthen the public health service, advocate the “preventive treatment of diseases” and reduce illness-related poverty. To satisfy the basic healthy needs of our people, medical and health care level should be continuously enhanced.

In August, 2014, SAZHU and Yuhang District People’s Government officially launched the strategic partnership and listed Yuhang First People’s Hospital as Yuhang Campus of SAZHU. Since then, we have provided them with comprehensive and effective support through “culture implantation, management improvement and academic support”. 11 management and clinical experts were sent there to help improve their system and optimize working process and more than 100 quality improvement programs have been carried out until now. SAHZU Specialist Clinic was opened there and over 20 new technologies have landed. SAHZU shares with Yuhang Campus all its teaching and training resources and the four-level tele-medicine platform, which makes it possible for Yuhang people to enjoy the world’s most advanced medical achievements at home.

In fact, Yuhang campus is only a typical reprehensive hospital SAHZU has work with in a positive response to the national call of “strengthening the grassroots” and Zhejiang provincial avocation of “double sinking and double promotion”. Until now, we have totally 9 campuses and 200 collaborative hospitals, being a hospital with the most collaborative hospitals and the best work of medical resource sinking in Zhejiang province.
