The Department of Thyroid Surgery emphasizes standardized treatment of thyroid diseases, function protection, and minimal invasive techniques for cosmetic purposes. It is a national training center for scarless endoscopic thyroid surgery, and one of the twelve recurrent laryngeal nerve monitoring training centers in China. It is a national demonstration center for standard diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases. The department has contributed to the establishment of expert consensuses of several thyroid diseases/procedures, such as that of thyroid surgery via transthoracic and transoral approach.
