The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases was first founded in 1964. Currently we have 41 inpatient beds, 7 senior physicians, and 5 master student tutors. We serve for more than 1800 inpatients and more than 120000 outpatients each year. The major fields of our department include diseases of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, pituitary, obesity, goat, and especially diabetes. Our well-equipped diabetes center affords whole-course management of diabetes patients with a detailed database. The evaluationof blood glucose, pancreas islet function and diabetic complication are well performed here. Personal medical documents of the patients are built and preserved to allow personalized treatment and expert long-term follow up. Platform for reservation, consultation and communication is available for individual needs through network, message and phone call. More than 50% of the patients in our center achieved ideal blood glucose control. As one of the first institutions for diabetes education and management certified by Chinese Medical Association, our center offers excellent education services for diabetic individuals in a wide variety of forms. As one of the three training bases in Zhejiang province, our center has successfully cultivated more than one hundred professional nursesfor diabetic care.
