The Department of Ophthalmology is among one of the earliest in China capable of Intraocular Lens Implantation and Vitreoretinal Surgeries. Its proficiency level of eye surgeries such as small incision phacoemulsification, microphacoemulsification, foldable IOL Implantation and various kinds of complicated vitreoretinal surgeries, is highly advanced in the country and in the world. The level of expertise in diagnosis and treatment for refractive disease, glaucoma, fundus disease, corneal disease, strabismus and amblyopia, lacrimal apparatus disease, ocular trauma and plastic surgery, PRK/LASIK is also among the best in the country. The “International Personalized Ocular Prosthesis Center” jointly set up with Yonsei University of Korea will be a new feature of the Eye Center.

The department is made up by a team of numerous talents. Our team leader Professor Yao Ke, a representative of National People’s Representative Assembly and a Ph.D. supervisor, is a prominent ophthalmologic specialist who made extraordinary contributions to China and to Zhejiang province as well. The team consists of over 50 senior ophthalmologists specializing in ophthalmological disease diagnosis and treatment, including cataract, vitreoretinal disease, glaucoma, refractive laser surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and amblyopia, corneal disease, optometry as well as ocular tumor, aesthetic and plastic surgery. Our Motto is, “Everything We Do, We Do It for Our Patients”. Warm service with excellent medical techniques has brought favorable comments from the community. In 2015, doctors of the department served around 550,000 outpatients and performed over 55,000 operations.
