With 30 years of history, the Department of Prothodontics & Orthodontics has one of the largest and most experienced groups of dentists in China. It has more than 40,000 out-patient visits annually. The faculty is fully committed to excellence in teaching and provides expert clinical care. All members of the Department are involved in clinical research, while some have dedicated interest in basic science. Besides, all of them have published extensively in professional journals and hold the master’s or PhD degree.

Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the replacement and maintenance of oral function, comfort, appearance, and health of the patient by the restoration of natural teeth and/or the replacement of missing teeth. The Division of Prosthodontics offers a full range of clinical services to our patients, like implant retained restorations, inlay, veneer, crowns, bridges, partial and complete dentures etc. Patients requesting prosthodontic treatment are able to choose from various options with most up-to-date techniques and equipment.

Most clinical technology in our Orthodontic division is national advanced, such as standard Edgewise technique, Straight Wire Appliance technique, functional appliance technique, lingual appliance technique and clear aligner technique. These technique provides correction for children and adults with all kinds of malocclusions. Besides traditional orthodontic treatment, early treatment for oral muscle training, customized esthetics orthodontic treatment, as well as snore guard for mild obstructive sleep apnea are all ahead in Zhejiang province.

Our division cooperates with other departments to make treatment plans for some complex dentofacial deformities, particularly in combined prosthodontic restoration for oral cancer patients after surgery, combined orthodontics and orthognathic surgery for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), combined orthodontic and periodontitis treatment, pre-treatment and post-treatment of distraction osteogenesis (DO), orthodontic treatment of tempromandibular joint disorder (TMD) and orthodontic treatment for cleft lip and palatal patient. These combined treatments are both esthetics and efficient, which are recognized domestic and abroad.
